TOP pay and benefits providedJob SummaryIn a restoration setting, a carpenter is responsible for providing a range of construction and renovation skills commonly needed to restore residential and commercial properties damaged by water, mold, fire, smoke, and other perils.
Interior structural and finish repairs may include framing, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, flooring, drywall installation, wallboard installation, and finish painting and/or staining interior millwork, walls, and ceilings.
Exterior repairs may include wood, composite and synthetic siding, trim, millwork, window and door replacement, and roofing repairs.
The successful candidate is skilled in the safe and effective use of power and hand tools, is knowledgeable of a variety of materials and the proper means and methods of the construction industry, and is continuously learning and improving in the craft.
ResponsibilitiesoAbility to read work orders, blueprints, drawings, and sketches and to fully grasp requirements.
oAccuracy with layout, taking measurements, and calculating the size and amount of material needed for a project while minimizing waste.
oSense of urgency to complete assignments in a workmanlike manner within specified time and budget requirements.
oAbility to direct others and organize an efficient work plan.
Required Education and ExperienceoHigh school diploma.
Solid basic math skills.
oSignificant work history 5+years of hands-on experience as a Carpenter.
oKnowledge of and willingness to comply with general industry safety guidelines always Restoration experience a plus Technical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Communication Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers, subcontractors, or employees of the organization.
Work Environment:
Working around equipment and machinery, the work environment is usually dirty, dusty, and noisy, on uneven ground/surfaces containing hazardous or potentially hazardous substances and/or materials, and is subject to inclement or extreme weather conditions and temperatures.
Work includes handling hazardous materials and the use of personal protective equipment.
Frequent travel is required for this position.
Physical Demands:
Must be in good physical health and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination and drug screening.
Able to regularly lift and carry 50
pounds.
