Essential Duties Confirm patient demographic information and make adjustments as necessary Check and verify insurance coverage Verify patient services and ensure the correct codes are entered to be billed using coded data provided in order to submit claims to insurance companies Understand clinical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 coding Knowledge of insurance guidelines Respond to information requests from insurance carriers in a timely manner, including but not limited to follow-up, appeals, and corrected claims Work directly with the insurance company, the patient, and the healthcare provider, to get claims processed and paid Check payments for accuracy and compliance with contract Answer patient calls regarding billing matters Conduct calls to patients on billing matters Handle collections and unpaid accounts by establishing payment arrangements with patients, monitoring payments, and following up with patients.
Sort, file, and scan paperwork Responsible for regular and punctual attendance; complies with MJO policies regarding absenteeism and tardiness Perform other miscellaneous duties as required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, Associates Degree preferred Familiarity with computer operation in general is required Word, Excel, Outlook Knowledge of billing principles and practices HIPAA Compliant 3-5 years billing experience NextGen EMR/PM experience preferred Key Competencies Attention to detail and accuracy Planning and organizing Adapting to changing priorities Meet deadlines and schedules Communication skills Problem-solving skills Team work Confidentiality Flexibility MJO offers excellent compensation and benefits.
